Tobias Grimm ('Toby')

A beast-handler who emerged from the reeds near the plesiosaur during the fight at the Starwater River crossing. Was controlling the plesiosaur with a brass whistle. Sanji rammed him and he coughed up the whistle, which was recovered by Sanji. He then disengaged and fled into the woods. Escaped. Who he works for is not known to the party; connection to the deliberate plesiosaur blockade strongly implied. He was flanked and supported by two hidden crossbow-wielding thugs who fired from the reeds to give him cover; one was killed by Wickett and the other fled down the road into the woods.

Named by the DM on the fly. One of three attackers on the second arriving raft. Wore a crude lanyard holding the stolen whistle from Stout's strongbox; had apparently been blowing it when Pickles chomped him. While dangling from the plesiosaur's mouth he struck Wicket with a boarding hook for 9 slashing damage; Wicket nonetheless retrieved the whistle from his mouth via sleight of hand and later rifled his pockets, recovering all the stolen evidence. Briefly wrenched free of the maw before being re-chomped nearly headless; finished by Vaela's Firebolt between the eyes. Deceased.

Session 11: Full name confirmed as Tobias Grimm. Identified by a prisoner as the mill's animal handler and the man who conscripted dock workers for the downriver raid and gave them their orders. The party connects him to the cloaked figure observed across the river during the plesiosaur encounter (Session 07). Now confirmed deceased — eaten by Pickles and finished by Vaela.

Session 11 (curation note): entry unified — the beast-handler 'Grimm' from the Session 07 blockade and the raid attacker 'Toby' from Session 10 were confirmed at the table to be the same person, Tobias Grimm. A prisoner identified the faceless body by name and role, and Vaela's insight (20) placed him as the figure in the bushes across the river during the Session 07 fight. Via Mother Halda, Pickles conveyed of the man who hurt her: 'he was tasty.'
