Session 14 Chaotic and comedic

Session 14, 'Return to Sender,' opened with Ledger's voiceover (read at the table; inserted afterward from the DM's text) closing out Session 13: the mill crew talked into surrender by a kobold with a pot lid and a meat tenderizer, Vaela freeing every animal in the paddock and finding the warm egg — 'she said she's gonna be its mother; I hauled it out for her' — and then setting the pen on fire, quietly and on purpose. The count: ten river men tied, one lady chained with no key, one foreman who won't say a name, one soldier loose, one egg, one growing fire next to a building full of barrels nobody can identify, and two shacks up the path whose men slept through the surrender but not the fire.

Cliffhangers

The party is walking out of the brine fog with the rescued guard, Ledger and the egg crate, heading for the wagon — they have only just reached the edge of the mist, and the DM is 'considering whether or not you guys make it'
Kreel, Sela and the tied mill crew were left behind in the warehouse; Kreel and Sela are unaffected by the fog, and about seventeen bunkhouse men and the animal handlers fled into the dark
The warehouse and its barrels of brine are still standing; Kreel says the animals belong to Old Man Vance in Splinter's Bend

The Story So Far

through Session 14

When the crew of the Greasy Spoon fled Splinter's Bend, they were not exactly an army. Wickett and Gorlog ran a food wagon pulled by a giant badger named Ledger, a creature of sardonic dignity who considered his companions idiots and was devoted to them absolutely. Into their escape tumbled Sanji, a satyr monk barely two months into the wider world, and Skrit, a kobold paladin with no given name who had simply been in the wrong market square at the wrong time. What they left behind them were green flames burning on a cobblestone side street, a publicly humiliated constable named Barnaby Plum, and the wrath of the Vance family, who effectively owned the town. The bounty Plum put on them — five hundred gold, backed by Vance money far beyond his personal means — would follow them down every road they traveled.
