The session opened with the party in the logging trench, having just survived the ankheg encounter from last session. One ankheg was dead, one unconscious and chained, and one had fled. Skrit investigated the burrow tunnel and, following a whiff of turnip mash, crawled deep into the hole and recovered a mud-and-mash mixture — circumstantial evidence suggesting Silas had been baiting the ankhegs into the trench. Gorlog confirmed the flavor, the party debated the significance, and ultimately decided to present the evidence to Foreman Kaelin alongside the meat. They loaded the unconscious ankheg onto the driver's bench between Skrit and Wickett, positioning it as if it were driving, and headed back toward Waymoot.
