A pair of scholars overheard in merchant conversation while Gorlog and Wickett walked back along the blocked wagon line at Thornwall Fords. Were spotted traveling upriver on a book-laden raft about a week prior to Session 07. Reportedly had not slept in a fortnight and were asking about old ruins upriver. The party knows nothing more about them.

Session 08: Confirmed to be Vaela's parents. Described by Vaela as elves with red hair. They are scholars conducting a research expedition upriver — a patron at the Greasy Spoon mentioned the authors of the book Vaela carries might be just up the river on a research study. They have hired bounty hunters Callum and Petra to retrieve Vaela and return her unharmed, and reportedly pay very well. Vaela says they want her to return to do research and reading, which she finds boring, and that she believes she will eventually disprove their scholarly work.
