Session History

Session 11

Named for the first time this session by a prisoner under interrogation (spelled K-R-E-E-L by the DM). Identified as the foreman at the Old Redwater Mill who gives all orders; when Tobias Grimm was drafting men for the downriver raid, Kreel told him to take whoever he wanted. Confirmed to have been on the third raft returning upriver after the raid — 'Kreel goes where he wants to go.' The other prisoners visibly reacted with alarm when his name was spoken and appeared to expect it not to be mentioned. Stout separately warned that one man at the mill works for fear rather than pay ('mind that one') — the table did not establish whether that man is Kreel, but it is suspected. Faith raised in-session uncertainty about whether Kreel was at the mill or present at the raid. Not yet physically described or directly encountered.

Session 12

Session 12: Not seen directly. Sela confirmed he is present on site at the Old Redwater Mill ('Kreel's going to hate this') and that his approval is needed for decisions such as housing Vaela and determining what to do with Ledger ('Ask him what he wants to do with that badger'). Consistent with prior intel identifying him as mill foreman who gave orders for the downriver raid.

Session 13

Session 13: The DM never spoke his name this session. After the crew surrendered, an unarmed man walked up from the back corner of the warehouse; when Wickett called down through the roof hole asking which one was Kreel, everyone stared ahead. Under Sanji's intimidation (21), a bound guard wet himself and pointed to the far end of the line ('He is. That's him. It's not me. It's the other guy'); Skrit's insight read the guard as completely truthful. The man's only protest was 'No, you shouldn't get him.' Pulled out of line; questioned over an opened branded barrel. Did not react strongly when Wickett held a pinky coated in the shimmery liquid to his face — only that he didn't want it. Claimed to be 'only in charge of the outside of the crates, never what's inside'; said shipments 'all go to different places,' that he had no bill of lading, that rafts or ships arrive with a bill of materials and are loaded — 'We're just running a warehouse.' When asked whose antlers-and-tally brand it was, refused to name anyone: 'You already know who they belong to.' Bound with the rest of the crew at session end.

Session 14

Session 14: DM named him as Kreel throughout. Interrogated while bound in the warehouse. Insisted he is 'not who she's looking for' and that he only runs a staging warehouse — 'stuff comes in, stuff goes out.' Said he has about twenty men who formed a fire brigade. Gave contradictory accounts of the brine barrels, calling the liquid 'brine': said he didn't know what it was used for, that it's 'very flammable,' on the manifest and not used at the mill; later said 'it's like a medicine… it's not for people, it helps keep the animals calm.' Said all mill animals belong to Old Man Vance in Splinter's Bend, who visits every moon or two ('a lot less often these days'), never sells any animals, and keeps them like a zoo that charges no one — Kreel reports to him. Said the egg was kept safe and warm. His head drooped when the plesiosaur was mentioned; acknowledged training whistles exist but said 'they ain't supposed to be doing that,' called it 'a lazy man's path,' and described the effect as a side effect of 'the sedative they put in the…' — Skrit's Insight read him as truthful. Blamed bird-cord injuries on Larry. Said the bear is penned because she cuts herself up when loose. Was unaffected by the brine fog (DM attributed this to sheer exposure). Left bound in the warehouse when the party departed.
