Corporal Tam Brannick
Session History
The guard Captain Stout posted on her River Toll House strongbox. Was absent when Sanji reached the shack during the raid. Sanji's investigation found signs of a struggle and drag marks: heavy-booted individuals came up from the shoreline, fought, and dragged this person — confirmed by the DM to be a person, not a chest — back to the river. Presumed abducted by the raft party. Fate unresolved.
Session 11: Full identity confirmed — Corporal Tam Brannick, known to Stout's unit as 'Tam.' Stout believes he was hauled upriver on the third raft like freight, along with the stolen evidence. The party has accepted the mission to retrieve him and has departed upriver.
Session 12: Located bound hands-behind-back and separately lashed to cargo crates on the Old Redwater Mill dock (water side). Kept up a steady stream of taunting the dock guards throughout his captivity ('you hear that? Somebody's coming to get me'). Just after the mill's searchlight lit, Sanji overheard him say quietly to the guards, 'told you they were coming.' Recognized what Sanji was doing when she cut his bonds without a word, did not react visibly, and smoothly sleeved the dagger she palmed to him (Sanji sleight of hand 21). Continued giving the guards trouble without skipping a beat. Appears to have anticipated rescue and is actively cooperating. This confirms his fate as the missing Toll House guard.
Session 13: Active from the top of the session after being cut loose on the dock by Sanji at the end of Session 12. His legs had gone to sleep from being bound; on a natural 1 stealth they buckled and he hit the ground shouting 'Pins and needles!', alerting both dock guards. Sanji carried him into the woods. Once mobile he thought tactically: asked whether Sanji knew where she was going and whether her friends might be in trouble, then proposed a relay carry to cover ground faster — 'worked shockingly well.' Reached the tree edge unseen, then appeared over Sanji's shoulder during the warehouse standoff to back Skrit's surrender demand with 'Yeah, what she said.' Free and with the party at session end; not yet returned to Thornwall Fords.
Session 14: Not named at the table this session (referred to as 'the guard' / 'the guy we rescued'). Was paralyzed by the brine fog inside the warehouse. Gorlog declined to retrieve him and handed Wickett the truffle oil; Wickett identified him as the only person neither tied nor manacled and administered two doses, first rolling a 2 (ineffective) then an 18 (success). Came to having heard the entire interrogation of Kreel. Left the mill with the party.
